Baked two round sourdough loaves of bread for the Jewish New Year!  Round braided bread symbolizes the circle of life, and we serve them with sweet fruits for a sweet year shared with friends, family, and community. The top is 50% rye 50% sprouted wheat with raisins and walnuts.  The bottom challah is 50% sprouted wheat, 25% barley, and 25% oat flour.  I replaced the traditional egg-wash with a mix of maple syrup and almond milk and it made a beautiful brown glaze.  It was also my first attempt at braiding challah bread and it was fun to learn!  Happy New Year, L'Shana Tova to all! #wfpb #wholegrains #homemadechallah #shanatova #veganchallah #eggfree #newtraditions #circleoflife #growingcompassion #veganbaking #breakingbread #happynewyear #happy5779 #yogafood
